People's avatars. Several people (including yourself) have avatars that involve a hat. Also certain characters (Link, Falcon) etc also have hats, so it could be referring them them instead.

Just so you know Raya I'll be going to bed pretty soon so if you want to hear more of your teammates' opinions about the report you'll have to wait a few hours before I post it.
So what do you want to do? Post it now or wait until morning?

Let's post it now. Although it may deflect votes off Fobby, it will hopefully tie up the doctor this round.

Gah... the more I think about the news reports the more it seems a liability.
If you reveal clues about who the Mafia might be, then you might be in the mafia yourself.
If you reveal who the next target may be, you might have helped PICK that target.
The only way it works is if no one thinks to question it or they think Lakitu is being done by someone not in the game.

you worry too much. They have no way of deciding who Lakitu is (and even if they do, they'll lose it soon enough). So even if they come with the idea of "hey...Lakitu might be mafia" they have no way of finding her.
Perhaps another explaination would be Lakitu stands in contact with Weldar but is only allowed to distribute indirect hints.

So I am an innocent now?
And what was that about Fobby saying I would go down too?

Yeah, I don't know how much fobbs was bluffing, but we may want to wait before trying to take him out... He might be a bomb-omb or something, kill him and he kills you.
Best case scenario, townies lynch mob and he takes out two innocents handing us the game. But then, that's too optimistic, even for me.

Here's the next edition of the news. Posted whenever you're able to, Weldar!
----------
My fellow citizens, over the past day the mafia hunt has taken some strange turns. Lynches that go against the vote, threats and suspicious speculation. Who knows how far the mafia will stoop to fulfil their own twisted ends?
Last night I received a message from an anonymous source, asking if we had any further details on the identity of the mafia members. Once again our brave reporters scoured the streets, seeking out answers. Our report contains details some viewers may find disturbing.
On patrol with the police department, our investigator was called out to a disturbance. A suspected mafia member had been cornered in a popular night club. Suspecting a shoot out, backup had been ordered. What follows is a recording by our reporter, taken shortly before his death:
"The suspect...was ordered to emerge with their hands up. There was silence, then...the window exploded, and oh God...it was upon us, whirling a blade, limbs flying everywhere, the screams, the blood, oh God, it cut us down like wheat, then they turned to me, oh God..."
Sadly our reporter passed away from his injuries shortly after the incident. Our condolences to his loved ones.
Despite this tragic loss, I urge our viewers to come forward with any questions they want answered, and we will do our best to search them out. No stone must go unturned in our quest to free the town from the mafia's tyranny!
In other news, trainers looking to free up PC space are being urged not to release their high level Pokémon into the wild, following an incident where a level 60 Charizard broke into a cattery. The local Pokémon shelter has announced a new no-kill policy, and has said they will gladly take in all unwanted Pokémon. Unless it's a Bidoof.

I'm seriously hoping I survive until the end, just to hear Smash go "NOOOOOO~!!" Saying that, I'm planning a special news report should I die/we win the game ^^ It's a major clue I gave away there- a sword. Three people have swords; Sahrimnir, Minby and td260. Think back to two of my other clues: someone who wears a mask and someone with an acronym name. Better get your excuses ready, Minby and td

Next report! Nobody is asking me any questions. I feel like I've failed -------- My fellow citizens, our first rays of hope are beginning to shine through. Earlier today we received a report of a break in at the coroner’s office. It is here the bodies of the victims in this struggle are being held. By the time the police arrived those responsible had already left. The office had been ransacked and an intern set on fire. Nothing had been taken save one thing…one of the burnt bodies. The missing body has yet to be identified, but from the evidence at the crime scene the police have pointed the finger squarely at the mafia. What use have they of a dead body? In this reporter’s opinion, the mafia were taking back one of their own. They did not wish the identity of the deceased to come to light. With a mafia member dead, is this the light at the end of the tunnel? Is this the beginnings of our victory? Stay tuned, we’ll have more on this story as it unfolds. In other news, the racing world has been stunned by reports of race fixing at Moo Moo Meadows. Staff are being accused of driving cows into the paths of racers they want to lose. This is yet another scandal in the controversial Mushroom Cup. Organisers are considering abolishing the Cup in fear of bringing the sport of go-karting into dispute.

I need you to make a fairly obvious post that has to do with your reporter in a box, or having the reporter still alive, or something.
They will eventually catch on, but it is late in the game. It does not matter. It will confuse them long enough for me to slip by.
Do it.
